Traditional Knowledge Research Assistants – 4 Positions Competition #17-18-05
Casual Hire / Full Time (May 1st to June 30th, 2017 with possible extension)
Salary: $25.51/ hr (Level 5A)
Location: Haines Junction, YT OR Whitehorse, YT
Reporting to the Manager of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Heritage, Lands and Resources, the incumbent will be responsible for transcribing audio recordings of oral history interviews, map biography surveys and perception of impacts interviews, as related to the Aishihik Relicensing Traditional Knowledge Research Project. The work will entail long hours concentrating on audio recordings and will require ability to produce high quality, accurate transcripts in a short amount of time. The work will be carried out in CAFN offices and will involve working in a small team environment.
Education and Experience:
Successful completion of high school, and demonstrated competency in word processing, familiarity with a range of word processing software, file management, working in an office environment carrying out administrative duties, and ability to work productively. Accurate and high typing speed considered an asset. Previous work experience transcribing audio recordings strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality of material, cultural awareness and need to follow CAFN TK procedures and policies a must.
