Election Day will be Thursday, October 20, 2022 from 11:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.
VOTERS LIST. The Voter’s List is available at the Champagne Aishihik First Nations administration offices. Citizens are responsible to confirm that their name is on the Voter’s List. Contact: Kathleen Jones, Central Registrar & Enrollment Coordinator, Champagne & Aishihik First Nations. Telephone: 867-634-4200, extension 235 or email kjones@cafn.ca or the Chief Returning Officer.
HOW CAN I VOTE? Citizens have three voting options – voting on Election Day; voting in the traveling advanced poll; or voting by a mail-in ballot.
Voting on Election Day. Votes mat be cast at any of these three locations between 11 AM and 8 PM on October 20, 2022:
- In Haines Junction at the Da Kų Cultural Centre, Main Hall
- At the Takhini River Subdivision at the Walter Smith House (Madessa Kų)
- In Whitehorse at the Best Western Gold Rush Inn.
Voting in the traveling advanced poll. This poll will be held on October 11, 2022:
- From 10 AM to 1 PM in Haines Junction at the Da Kų Cultural Centre, Main Hall
- From 2 PM to 2:30 PM in Canyon Creek at the Canyon Fire Hall
- From 3 PM to 3:30 PM in Champagne at the Shadhäla Kų Community Hall
- From 4 PM to 5 PM in the Takhini River Subdivision at the Walter Smith House (Madessa Kų)
- From 6 PM to 9 PM in Whitehorse at the Best Western Gold Rush
Voting in the traveling advanced poll in Haines, Alaska will be held on October 18, 2022 at the ANB Hall from 2 to 6 p.m.
Voting by mail-in ballot. Only electors who do not live near a polling station will be sent a mail-in ballot package. Citizens with a mailing address of Whitehorse, Haines Junction or Champagne will not be sent a mail-in ballot package, unless they complete an Application to Vote by Mail-in form and provide it to the Chief Returning Officer.
Citizens are responsible to confirm their correct mailing address with Kathleen Jones the Central Registrar & Enrollment coordinator, if they wish to receive a mail-in ballot package.
All mail-in ballots need to be received by the Chief Returning Officer by 4:30PM on October 20, 2022 to be counted on Voting day.

Nomination forms can be picked up at the CAFN Administration Office in either Haines Junction or Whitehorse or downloaded from the CAFN website: www.cafn.ca/2022-election/. The forms are also available from the Chief Returning Officer.
All nomination forms for candidates must be filed by 4:30 P.M., August 31, 2022 with the Chief Returning Officer. The Forms may be: a) sent by registered mail so that they are received by the Chief Returning Officer no later than 4:30 PM August, 31, 2022; b) they can be hand delivered in person to the Chief Returning Officer (call 867-332-1941 for Haines Junction Location); or c) they can be scanned and emailed to CAFNelection2022@gmail.com by 4:30 P.M., August 31, 2022.
