About the Author:

Donna Thibodeau was born in Whitehorse as Donna McCormick in 1952. She is a member of the Wolf Clan (āgunda) and the Champagne and Aishihik First Nations. Her traditional name given to her be elder Sadie Brown ä’łaya. Growing up, Donna lived in foster homes from 1959 to 1971. She attended Elementary school in Whitehorse and later High School in Vancouver.  She returned to the Yukon in 1971 after graduation and in 1972 married Leonard Thibodeau. They raised their family in B.C. Most of her working career was as a legal secretary. She is passionate about preserving cultural history and wrote this memoir to tell her story. Donna is retired and currently resides in Kelowna, BC.
