CAFN COVID-19 Bulletin 7: March 30, 2020

Message from the Chief

“You’re not stuck at home, you’re safe at home.” (quote from Buddhist Boot Camp)

As Champagne and Aishihik First Nations (CAFN) works diligently every day to prevent the spread of COVID-19 to our Citizens and communities, we ask you to remember that we do this out of love.  We want to protect the lives of all our people, especially our Elders and most vulnerable.  This is Dän K’e – Our Way.

Council hears daily of Citizens who are not self-isolating after travel, teenagers who are ignoring social spacing rules and gathering in close spaces, and community members who are still visiting in their friends and neighbors homes.  This cannot continue.

We must all stay home to isolate and do all that we can to avoid bringing this virus to our friends and family.  We must act now to save lives.

Citizens and Community Members MUST:

Strictly follow all health directives by the governments of Yukon and Canada.

Today the Chief Medical Officer announced that we now have five (5) confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Yukon.

WE ALL MUST:

  • Self-isolate for 14 days if you or a member of your household have traveled outside the Yukon or Canada.
  • Wash your hands frequently.
  • Avoid touching your face.
  • Keep a space of at least 2 metres from others, especially in public spaces.
  • Stay home. We strongly encourage you to stay home except for essential travel.
  • Reduce travel in and out of our rural communities.
