The 2018 CAFN Annual General Assembly passed Resolution 2018-15, “Emergency Closure on the Klukshu River Salmon”, which means no harvesting of salmon from the Klukshu River system. Recognizing it is important to stay connected to our cultural traditions while maintaining our relationship with the land and its attributes, we have purchased salmon for processing at camp.
Families are invited to come participate in the Salmon Camp’s daily activities at Klukshu Village and Shäwshe area. Camp activities includes salmon teachings traditional knowledge, salmon identification, walking tours of traditional fishing grounds, Klukshu Weir tour, future salmon management – cultural practices and management, processing / cutting salmon, and developing a community mural project with a Salmon theme during the camp.
