Energy Program Coordinator

Champagne and Aishihik First Nations (CAFN) invites citizens to identify their interest in a 2-year term position as an Energy Program Coordinator based within Government of Yukon’s Energy Branch.

The Energy Coordinator will focus on planning, supporting and implementing energy focuses initiatives as listed in the Energy Agreement and other agreements under the YG-CAFN Aishihik Generating Station (AGS) Agreements and other energy initiatives identified by CAFN, and for serving as a technical energy expert, researcher and project manager to CAFN.

Under guidance from CAFN and YG, the Energy Program Coordinator will develop a detailed Energy Work Plan. The Energy Work Plan will identify steps and timelines for implementing the projects and initiatives outlined within the Energy Agreement.

This position will focus on advancing energy projects in CAFN Traditional Territory, that address carbon reduction, energy efficiency, renewable energy generation, and supporting the green economy. Success for this 2-year phase entails identifying CAFN needs and implementing meaningful projects in the following areas:

  • Advance cooperation and reconciliation between parties
  • Support projects in CAFN Traditional Territory that are aligned with Our Clean Future that address:

– Carbon reduction – Energy efficiency – Renewable energy generation – Green economy development

  • Thermal envelope upgrades, renewable heating systems in residential, commercial and institutional buildings
  • Reducing the demand and reliance on the AGS.

Skill set:

The Energy Program Coordinator should have excellent project management experience, such as:

  • Excellent communication skills and technical writing skills;
  • Ability to accurately account for energy efficiency and greenhouse gas reduction outcomes as with residential, commercial/institutional and transportation projects;
  • Experience monitoring third-party project budgets and milestones;
  • Working with third parties/installers/contractors to achieve desired results; and
  • Acting as liaison between CAFN, YG, third parties and other relevant personnel.
