Job Summary:
The Dän K’è Adult Immersion Program will offer CAFN citizens an opportunity to reconnect to their Southern Tutchone language and culture. The 2 year full-time intensive program consists of a project based curriculum enhanced with hands on Dän K’è experiences, grammar lessons and daily activities geared towards fostering the advancement of spoken language proficiency.
Reporting to Director of Education, this position shall collaborate with the Lead Instructor to plan, develop and implement the Adult Language Immersion program.
Education and Experience:
Incumbents must have a minimum of an YNLC Diploma Program or post-secondary degree in the field of Language, Education, Adult Education or Second Language Acquisition. Intermediate/High proficiency in Southern Tutchone, as assessed in the ACTFL Language scale is also required. Experience in curriculum development and evaluation is an asset. A minimum 1 years’ experience in the instruction of the Southern Tutchone language or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required.
Conditions of Employment:
- Valid Class Five Driver’s License
- Valid First Aid Certificate
- Clear Criminal and Vulnerability check by RCMP
- Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends, as required
- Extended workdays may be required to accomplish tasks and meet workload demands during peak periods, as directed
- Ability and willingness to travel, as required
- Mandatory confidentiality is a condition for all CAFN personnel
