CAFN is looking for up to 6 people to fulfill the role of “Crew Member” for the CAFN Greenhouse Program.
Date: ASAP to September30, 2022
Wage: 3A – $22.02/hr
Location: Takhini River Sub-division
Job Summary: Reporting to the Greenhouse Coordinator (Supervisor), the Labourer is responsible for performing physical duties and responsibilities in a community building or outdoors environments. The work typically entails site preparation, maintenance, clean up; minor repairs to greenhouse and out buildings, structures and components owned by Champagne and Aishihik First Nations. The Labourer will be able to follow instructions, wear steel-toe boots and other industry specified personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, complete work assigned by the required deadline, be physically fit, demonstrate wellness, and be able to lift up to 30 pounds. This position will work will in a community garden/ greenhouse environment.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Working in a greenhouse and community garden space
- Abides by Occupational Health and Safety regulation, policies and procedures
- Work cooperatively in a team environment
- Job site preparation, maintenance and clean up
- The physical labour duties
- Other related duties
Requirements:
- Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Previous greenhouse and horticulture experience and/ or basic carpentry experience is an asset.
- Valid Yukon Class 5 Drivers License is an asset
- Standard First Aid & CPR, is preferred
- WHMIS, or willingness to obtain
- Hazard Assessment training, an asset
- Personal wellness and good physical fitness
- Mandatory confidentiality is a condition of employment for all CAFN personnel
