EXPRESSION OF INTEREST – Instructor(s), Yukon First Nations Arts Certificate Program




The Haines Junction campus is seeking local Champagne and Aishihik First Nations Instructor(s) to teach the following:

  • Beadwork
  • Sewing
  • Traditional Footwear
  • Carving
  • Fine Craft Work (porcupine quillwork, tufting, fish scale art)
  • Other traditional local arts

The Yukon First Nations Arts Certificate Program’s focus is to enhance students’ artistic abilities in the development of unique, innovative, traditional, and contemporary indigenous arts and crafts. This position will be responsible for planning, organizing and delivering lessons using tactile instruction to develop Indigenous arts and crafts. Duties will also include assigning, reviewing, and evaluating student art projects to a specific standard. The program is tentatively scheduled to start in October 2021.

We are looking for local Champagne and Aishihik First Nations applicants who enjoy working in a student-centered environment. The ideal candidates have excellent interpersonal skills, enjoy teaching adults, and are enthusiastic about passing along knowledge. Experience teaching art in an adult learning environment is considered an asset.
