Fire and Fuel Abatement Crew (6 members) Competition #18-19-116
Casual Full-Time (Starting March 25th, 2019)
Salary: DTP Level 02 – $19.00-21.00 per hour
Location: Haines Junction
Job Summary: This casual position is for a crew member to reduce forest fuel loading in the vicinity of Haines Junction and Champagne according to direction provided by the supervisors.
This position reports to the Property Services Capital Projects manager to administer technical details of the treatment prescription and the management of burning of slash. The work will be carried out in Haines Junction and Champagne areas. As such, the crew member will be expected to demonstrate and work in a respectful manner for local residents.
The candidate must be willing to work flexible hours including the possibility for un-paid/unscheduled “down-days” due to weather conditions or other circumstances as they may arise.
Candidates for this position will also be preferred candidates for the potential Dän Ts’änānän 2019 fall/winter offering for “Firewood as a Business” offering.
Education and Experience:
Preference will be given to those candidates with experience as a crew member of fuel abatement/fire smart crews. Chainsaw operators’ certification and those with tree falling experience may be an asset. Other similar life related skills may be considered.
Conditions of Employment: Must be present during all training. Must have valid Standard First Aid Certificate. Valid Class 5 Drivers’ License is an asset.
