Fix Term Full-Time (ASAP – October 18, 2019)

Salary: $20.12 – $23.11

Location: Haines Junction, YT

Job Summary: Reporting to the CAFN Occupational Health and Safety Officer of Human Resources, the Occupational Health and Safety Assistant is responsible for assisting in developing and maintaining the organization’s Occupational Health and Safety and Emergency Preparedness Programs, and for providing supportive services related to compliance, prevention, and incident management.

Education and Experience:  Assisting in Developing and maintaining the organization’s Occupational Health and Safety and assist with any Emergency Preparedness Programs by:  Assisting in Developing and/or facilitating and coordinating the development and maintenance of pertinent OH&S and related policies and procedures to comply with various and related Occupational Health and Safety Acts and Regulations, and the requirements of YWCB.  Assisting and participating with the Occupational Health and Safety Committee.  Reviewing occupational health and safety policies in collaboration with the OH&S committee.  Developing and coordinating the WHIMIS program in collaboration with material management employees. This includes providing technical advice and recommendations to managers to ensure compliance with applicable legislation and WHIMIS regulations.  Assisting in Developing, maintaining and updating emergency response plans and procedures.

Conditions of Employment: •Valid Yukon class 5 driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract •Must wear CSA/ ASA approved protective footwear. •Completion of an intake with the Dän Ts’änānän program is a requirement •Willingness to obtain all required safety and program certifications, as identified by Dän Ts’änānän program •Willingness to travel as required.
