Notice: Alder Creek area prescribed fire in KNPR

Parks Canada is planning a small (37ha) prescribed fire in the Alder Creek area of Kluane National Park and Reserve for next week. This fire unit sits along the Mush Lake Road approximately 5.5 km from the Haines Road.

During the prescribed fire:

smoke may be visible from the Haines Road and in nearby communities.

Prescribed fire can promote and nurture healthy ecosystems and is a tool used for wildfire risk reduction. Safety is our top priority. A prescribed fire would only be ignited if conditions are optimal.
