Statement on tragic passing of Na-Cho Nyäk Dun citizen

On behalf of the Champagne and Aishihik First Nations, we extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and the First Nation of Na-Cho Nyäk Dun following the tragic passing of their citizen.

We hold you in our hearts during this incredibly difficult time. May the strength of our people, the support of loved ones, and the guidance of our ancestors bring comfort as you grieve this loss.

CAFN staff were on site to support search and rescue efforts over the weekend, and like so many others, we were holding out hope for a different outcome. Our thoughts remain with the community as they begin the journey of healing.

Our emergency response team remains available to provide support during incidents within our Traditional Territory. If assistance is needed, please call 867-634-5174.

Sincere condolences to all those affected.
