Champagne and Aishihik First Nations is proud of all our CAFN Storm teams who hit the ice at the 46th Annual Kilrich Yukon Native Hockey Tournament this past weekend.

This year, three CAFN teams represented our Nation with heart, skill and sportsmanship:

  • CAFN Storm – C Division
  • CAFN Storm – U15 – silver medalists, advancing to the final and battling hard in a 2–6 game against the Fort Nelson Bears
  • CAFN Jr. Storm – U13 – gold medal champions, defeating the Dunna‑Za Little Chiefs 4–2 in the championship game

We also celebrate outstanding individual achievements from CAFN players:

  • Rylan Long – U13 MVP and Top Scorer
  • Sohanni Johnstone – Best Defence, U15 Division
  • Makena Johnson – MVP, U15 Division
Storm Spirit in the Stands!

Our CAFN mascot was out in full force cheering on all three CAFN Storm teams at this year’s tournament. Thank you to everyone who showed up, made noise and supported our players all weekend long! Photo: Starflower Photography

The weekend kicked off with a CAFN pep rally for our players, including a special video message from Gavin McKenna, who has played for CAFN at Native Hockey and continues to inspire our youth. CAFN players and families also had the chance to take in special moments at this year’s tournament, including the Stanley Cup® visit and appearances by Andrew Ference and Conway Kootenay (“SmudgePan”).

We raise our hands to all three CAFN teams, their coaches, and the families, staff and volunteers who supported them on and off the ice. Your effort, teamwork and pride in representing CAFN are what this tournament is all about.

Shäw nithän / Gunałchîsh / Thank you to every CAFN player who wore the Storm jersey this year—you made our Nation proud.
