This Election Process will be ALL Electronic Voting (no paper ballots)

A QR Code will be sent to you in the mail directly from Election Buddy. The QR Code will be unique to each VOTER.

QR Codes will be generated and sent out to all eligible voters no later than April 8th, 2024 from Election Buddy.

If you would like your QR Code emailed to you, please email the Chief Returning Officer to request your unique code and it will be sent to you VIA email.

If you would like your QR Code texted to you, please text the Chief Returning Officer to request your unique code and it will be sent to you VIA text.

Remember:
– If you require assistance to vote, there will be polling stations to assist you with the online voting – bring your QR Code with you when you come to the polling station
– Keep your QR Code in a safe place

As per Section 9 of the Government Administration Act Election Rules and Regulations for Champagne & Aishihik First Nation (2018), the Election Board hereby calls a by-election for the following seat: One (1) Councillor

Nomination Forms are available:

  •  At Champagne and Aishihik Administration offices in Haines Junction and Whitehorse; or
  •  On the Champagne and Aishihik First Nation Website www.cafn.ca; or
  •  From the Chief Returning Officer – Tanya Silverfox

Completed Nomination Forms must be submitted to the Chief Returning Officer no later than 4:30 p.m on Thursday, March 28th, 2024. The Chief Returning Officer will be at the CAFN Administration Building in Haines Junction from 2 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. to Close Nominations on March 28th, 2024.

Nominations open from February 22nd – March 28th, 2024

Nominations will not be accepted after this time.

Eligible Candidates:
11. (1) To be eligible for nominations as a candidate for election, a Citizen:
(a) must be of the age required for that position as of the date of election (24 years of age);
(b) cannot have been convicted of a Criminal Code offence related to fraud or breach of public trust; and
(c) must have not been removed from the First Nations Council in the past ten (10) years preceding the date of election.
