The Champagne and Aishihik First Nations (CAFN) and community of Haines Junction will be honored by a visit from the Council of the Federation and National Aboriginal Organization leaders in Dakwäkäda (Haines Junction) next week on Wednesday, July 20, 2016.
During the day these special guests will participate in meetings and events at the St. Elias Convention Centre and at Da Kų Cultural Centre.
You will likely see increased traffic and motorcades in and around Haines Junction throughout the day. Please help by making our community look attractive and welcoming and give a friendly wave as the delegation passes by to show these special guests our Yukon hospitality and pride.
PLEASE NOTE: these gatherings are closed to the public for security reasons and in order to allow the leaders gathered to carry out a productive meeting.
The Council of the Federation includes the Premiers of all Canada’s provinces and territories. National Aboriginal Organization representatives include the leaders of the Assembly of First Nations, Congress of Aboriginal People, Metis National Council, Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami and Native Women’s Association of Canada.
